The Influence of Biochar Augmentation and Digestion Conditions on the Anaerobic Digestion of Water Hyacinth

The augmentation of biochar (BC) during anaerobic digestion (AD) has been identified as a potential strategy for improving the AD complex feedstocks. This study evaluates influence oak wood 450 °C and fermentation conditions invasive aquatic plant, water hyacinth (WH). Factorial 22 design experiments (DOE) allowed evaluation effect crucial processing conditions, inoculum-to-substrate ratio (ISR) load. Further optimisation was performed to identify best WH, at an ideal ISR 1. contour plots suggested that methane yield is favoured loads ?0.5%, whereas production rate by increasing loads. However, addition offered no further improvement or significant on WH. subsequent WH samples collected from different locations in India Uganda exhibited variable biochemical (BMP) yields. BC had little BMP performance, some cases, it even reduced BMP. concludes amendment influenced substrate, particularly when working with substrates.
